These are my current self-directed projects.

Some of them have accompanying information on the WIKI

During my time at the Banff Centre I created a map which located individual wireless access points in the Town of Banff.

This was accomplished by walking the town and scanning for networks with a handheld linux computer. The collected data was represented using Google Earth and a 48" x 60" wall print which was shown during the Works in Progresss show.

Much is abuzz regarding local foods, carbon footprints, and ethical purchasing.

We wanted to know the geographic extent of our purchases so that we could better understand what it means to buy local and reduce our carbon footprint.

Have you ever looked at a landmark and stated: "If that were back home, it would be where (something) is" ?

This work plays on that curiosity, trying to find an effective way to compare two places by transposing them into each other

As part of WorldMart, I obtained a Symbol LS5800 barcode scanner from ebay. This is a standard barcode scanner used in Point-of-Sale systems.

I was able to properly wire the output of the scanner's RS-232 serial port into a standard DB9 connector and receive the numbers from scanned barcodes. My work with this scanner continues as I feel it is a good tool to have around.
